Bold Ideas for CA-26

A progressive agenda built for every family, worker, and community in California's 26th district.

Economy and jobs
💼

Economy & Jobs

Building an economy that works for everyone — not just the wealthy few. I will fight for good-paying jobs, fair wages, and economic opportunity throughout CA-26.

  • Raise the federal minimum wage to $20/hour
  • Invest in green manufacturing & local job creation
  • Prepare America for the AI economy by addressing job displacement and retraining workers for the industries of tomorrow
  • Confront the AI bubble head-on — ensuring we invest wisely and protect working families from the fallout of speculative hype
  • Make the rich pay their fair share — close tax loopholes, end corporate giveaways, and ensure billionaires and corporations contribute to the economy that made their wealth possible
  • Ban prediction markets — they are corrosive to public trust and the social fabric, turning real-world events into gambling instruments that undermine our democracy
🏥

Healthcare

Healthcare is a human right. I will work to expand access, lower prescription drug costs, and protect reproductive rights for all Californians.

  • Expand Medicaid and protect the ACA
  • Cap insulin and prescription drug prices
  • Defend and codify reproductive healthcare rights
  • Invest in mental health services and community clinics
  • Fight for Medicare for All — a single-payer system that guarantees every American healthcare as a right, not a privilege

Environment & Climate

California's 26th must lead the nation on climate action. I'll fight for clean air, clean water, and a just transition to renewable energy.

  • Support and expand the Inflation Reduction Act's clean energy incentives
  • Invest in wildfire prevention and water security
  • Advance environmental justice in frontline communities
  • Accelerate the transition away from fossil fuels
  • Champion a Green New Deal that creates millions of good-paying jobs while tackling the climate crisis head-on
Public safety and democracy

Public Safety

True public safety means rooting out the corrupting influences that undermine trust in our institutions and threaten the integrity of our democracy.

  • Confront the corrosive influence of entities like Palantir on civil liberties and democratic governance
  • Restore public trust through transparency and accountability at every level of government
  • Protect communities from surveillance overreach and corporate abuse of power
  • Defund and abolish ICE — an agency that routinely violates the constitutional rights of American citizens and must be dismantled
Defending the Republic
⚖️

The Trump Threat

Our republic faces an unprecedented crisis. Donald Trump has demonstrated through his actions that he views the presidency not as a public trust, but as a vehicle for personal enrichment and unchecked power — and he must be held accountable.

  • Trump still refuses to acknowledge his defeat in the 2020 election, undermining the peaceful transfer of power that is the bedrock of American democracy and inspiring an insurrection at the Capitol
  • Exposed to alarming foreign leverage — serious questions remain about the nature of his ties to foreign governments, including Israel, and whether those relationships have compromised his ability to put America first
  • A pay-to-play presidency: Trump has opened the floodgates to corruption, accepting billions in value from foreign governments and oligarchs through cryptocurrency ventures, hotel stays, and business dealings while in office — selling out American interests for personal profit
  • Weaponized the presidential pardon to reward loyalists, silence witnesses, and obstruct justice — the pardon power must be amended or reformed through constitutional action to prevent future abuse
  • Trump and his family have repeatedly moved markets with insider knowledge, using tariff announcements to benefit connected investors while devastating American businesses — this is market manipulation at the highest level and demands criminal investigation
🎓

Education

A world-class education should be available to every child — and college shouldn't saddle students with a lifetime of debt.

  • Fully fund Title I schools and increase teacher pay
  • Expand universal pre-K and childcare access
  • Cancel student debt and make community college free
  • Protect public schools from privatization
🏠

Housing & Affordability

The housing crisis is pushing working families out of our communities. I'll fight to build more homes, protect renters, and end homelessness.

  • Invest in affordable housing construction & preservation
  • Strengthen renter protections and anti-eviction safeguards
  • Address homelessness with housing-first solutions
  • Reform zoning laws to increase housing supply
🌎

Immigration

Immigration is a source of strength for our district and our nation. I support humane, fair immigration reform that reflects our values.

  • Create a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants
  • Protect DACA recipients and TPS holders
  • Fix the immigration court backlog with more funding & judges
  • End inhumane detention practices and family separation
🎖️

Veterans Affairs

Those who served this country deserve the very best care and support. I will be a tireless advocate for veterans in CA-26 and across America.

  • Expand VA healthcare access and mental health services
  • Address the veteran homelessness crisis
  • Fight for disability benefits and military pension protections
  • Support veteran-owned small businesses
  • Our troops are not tools to be betrayed and sent to fight illegal wars on behalf of the Epstein class

Foreign Policy

America must end its complicity in violence abroad and restore Congressional authority over matters of war and peace.

  • End America's support for the genocide in Gaza
  • End the regime change wars that have destabilized entire regions
  • Strongly confront any attempt to start a major war without Congressional approval
  • Pursue actual America First goals — not the goals of the elite and the Epstein class

Democratic Leadership Has Failed Us

We cannot defeat authoritarianism with leaders who refuse to fight. Democratic leadership has completely failed its constituents — and it's time to say so plainly.

  • Democratic leaders failed to hold Trump accountable for his attempted coup on January 6th — letting the architects of insurrection walk free while our democracy hung in the balance
  • Democratic leadership has failed to protect Americans from Trump's Gestapo-style enforcement operations — standing by as federal agents terrorize communities across the country
  • Time and again, Democratic leadership caves to Trump even when they hold all the cards in negotiations — surrendering leverage and abandoning the people who elected them
  • Democratic leadership is beholden to the same corporate masters that Trump serves — Wall Street donors, Big Pharma, and defense contractors dictate their agenda just as much as they dictate his
  • We need new leadership with the backbone to stand up to Trump instead of caving at every turn — leaders who answer to working people, not wealthy donors

Meet Sasan Samadzadeh

My name is Sasan Samadzadeh, and I've grown up right here in Ventura County. This community is home — from its neighborhoods to its open spaces — and it's where my values were shaped.

Outside of work, I'm happiest hiking our local trails, playing classic video games like Fallout: New Vegas, or watching Star Trek: The Next Generation. I believe stories about the future say a lot about what we owe each other in the present.

My family came to the United States as refugees fleeing the Iranian Revolution, seeking safety, opportunity, and freedom. Like many immigrant families, we arrived with little but were embraced by this country. I've been incredibly fortunate to grow up with a loving, supportive family — and yes, I'm proudly a momma's boy.

After college, I went straight into construction, first in construction management and later as a construction inspector. That work shaped how I see the world. As an inspector, your job is to make sure foundations are solid, corners aren't cut, and small cracks don't become catastrophic failures.

I see our government the same way.

Right now, the foundations of American democracy are under serious strain — from authoritarian politics, corruption, foreign influence, and a political culture that too often protects powerful interests instead of the public. When leaders undermine democratic norms and accountability, the damage may not be obvious at first — but if it goes unaddressed, the consequences can be structural and lasting.

I'm running for Congress because I believe in fixing problems before collapse, in transparency over secrecy, and in a government that works for ordinary people, not entrenched elites. Ventura County deserves representation that takes democracy seriously, shows up, and refuses to look away when the warning signs are clear.

Why Not Another Democrat?

Let's be honest: Democratic leadership is totally failing its voters. While Trump dismantles our institutions, Democratic leaders offer nothing but empty statements and symbolic gestures. They refuse to fight when it matters most — and the people they represent are paying the price.

I may not have electoral experience — but I have common sense and the wisdom to know that too much political experience and blind party loyalty to leadership is exactly what's eroding trust in today's political climate. Career politicians who fall in line with party bosses aren't the answer. They're part of the problem.

Ventura County and America can't afford another lockstep Democrat who takes marching orders from the same leadership that has failed us time and again. We need real change — a representative who answers to the people of this district, not to donors in Washington or party insiders who've lost touch with working families.

That's why I'm running. Not to climb a political ladder — but to fight for you.
